At Modern Polyamory, we believe that lifestyle is all about finding joy in the little things. Our blog and podcast features tips and inspiration for creating a fulfilling life through polyamory. Helping others with managing communication, handling jealousy, and navigating life's ups and downs together is my goal and mission.
Jan Dominy is a relationship scientist and researcher based in Northern Nevada, with a deep focus on understanding the complexities of human connections. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology, Jan's research specializes in interpersonal relationships, particularly within the realm of Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM). With a passion for studying how people navigate love, intimacy, and communication outside of traditional relationship models, Jan is committed to advancing the understanding of CNM through both academic research and personal insight.
In addition to their academic pursuits, Jan is an avid creator. They express themselves through various forms of art, including photography, writing, and music, and are also an active participant in the unique culture of Burning Man. Jan’s broad range of interests allows them to approach their work with a creative and open-minded perspective, blending both scientific inquiry and personal exploration.
Jan’s work extends beyond the classroom and into the community, where they are dedicated to advocating for the visibility and understanding of ethical non-monogamy and its role in the broader landscape of relationship studies. Through their research and outreach, Jan is making significant contributions to reshaping how society views relationships, intimacy, and connection.
Jan identifies as a queer/bisexual/demisexual cisgender female, and their journey in polyamory is centered around embracing deep, meaningful connections with the people who truly resonate with them. Jan tends to date mostly men but also cherishes having a special woman in their life, appreciating the uniquely fulfilling energy that dynamic brings.
For Jan, polyamory isn’t about collecting partners like trophies; it's about creating space for authentic, intentional relationships. They tend to cap it at three partners, as that’s when they feel most balanced, saturated, and satisfied. Any more relationships, and it starts to feel like they’re spreading themselves too thin. Jan prioritizes quality over quantity in relationships, to Jan, should be enriching, not draining, and they take this approach to ensure a fulfilling polyamorous lifestyle.
Stay tuned for more updates as Jan continues navigating the beautiful world of polyamory. There's always more to learn and explore, and they’re eager to share it with others.
